October nails

Having my nails done has always been something that has been very important to me. I can remember being a teenager and looking through magazines and becoming fixated by the women who wore long, flashy nails. I wanted those nails! When I was younger, I was always a nail biter and my natural nails were short and not aesthetically pleasing by any means. Occasionally, as a teenager, I was able to get my nails done for certain events, concerts, my birthday parties, etc. I was able to have those ‘flashy long nails’ but it was short lived as I wasn’t able to afford the upkeep at that young age.

It wasn’t until I had my own job as a young adult that I could afford to finally have the nails I wanted. As with makeup, I’m not one to shy away from bold colors, extreme looks, I like to try new things and I love ‘thinking outside of the box’ if you will. I like to try things that are different and going to cause a reaction. (This applies to my hair as well- though, I’m not as bold with my hair colors/ changes as I am with my nail designs 😀 )

I’m very fortunate because my nail technician is amazing. I’ve been her client since 2009, I believe. Not only is she extremely talented at her craft, but she is so down to earth and one of the most genuinely nicest people you’d ever want to meet. I’ve had many nail technicians in my years and it is so hard to find a good one! Amy, (my nail technician) is a skilled professional who is knowledgable and really takes pride in her work. In my experience with some nail technicians, I’ve found that some of them will do a lack luster job, not caring about the quality of their work, nor client(s), and are just wanting to make as much money as they can without giving you either, A- What you want. B- The quality you expect and are paying for. C- They are just not as skilled and either lack the knowledge or creativity you expect. Or D- You just don’t mesh well with them, either personality wise or don’t see eye to eye with the service they’re providing you.

I love that I’ve built a great bond with Amy over the years. She really listens to me and isn’t just quick to rush me in and out of my appointments. She takes her time and has really gotten to know me over the years. (She’s also pretty darn fantastic at taking a picture of something I like and recreating it and making it her own unique style) In the past, I’d sometimes dread going to nail appointments, either because the tech would be so unfriendly and the service wasn’t A+, or I knew I was going to walk out of there with less than stellar nails. (Obviously I love her so much if I’m willing to travel a state away from my home- forty five minutes or so to see her :p )

If anyone is looking for a new nail salon and is in the R.I. area I highly recommend you checking Amy out. She can be found at – Harmony Nail Studio 2914 Post Rd, Warwick, RI 02886 *currently she’s not taking any new clients, but she has a great team of people that are just as skilled and will provide you with great customer service and service in general.*

Do you guys have a special nail tech you enjoy going to? Have you had any good or bad experiences recently? Let me know. 🙂

❤ Jenn
