Fall has always been my favorite time of the year. The hot sticky days of the summer start turning to cool, crisp days and nights. The leaves start changing from the dull green to a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, from oranges, reds, and yellows. Everything about the fall is magical. Growing up in New England I’ve been fortunate to experience such beauty. I don’t think you can truly experience and enjoy or appreciate the fall foliage until you see it in all its glory that New England offers. I think I’m probably at my happiest once this time of year rolls around. Nothing gets me more ready for this time of year then the sight of pumpkins. Pumpkins make me think of Halloween… and Halloween is one of my favorites! Who doesn’t love a good scary movie while sipping hot chocolate or cider? It’s literally what I look forward to the most- that and apple picking! Okay, hayrides as well.
October is my favorite month (besides March, for my birthday) because it just screams fall to me.. like, October is FALL! I know Fall starts towards the middle to late end of Sept and ends in December… but October to me just signifies that it’s time to start all the fall festivities. Give me haunted houses, pumpkin picking, caramel apples, warm apple cider, hayrides, you name it. I’m all about it! Plus it’s sweater weather, cute boots, flannels. Hello? What’s better than fall fashion.
Halloween has always been my favorite as a kid. I loved everything about it, from deciding on what costume to wear, to trick or treating, to making myself sick with eating candy later in the night. As an adult, I still carry that love for Halloween. Nowadays it’s usually a night at home with my husband and our dog, watching ‘Halloween’ (that movie- the original not the Rob Zombie remake has been a tradition since I was young watching it with my sister every year) Past years we’d attend a friends Halloween party, but for the most part we’re pretty regular when it comes to our Halloween night tradition. It’s something so simple, but I really enjoy it. I love it, in fact. I love being scared and covering my eyes (while peeking through my hands) at the horror movies we watch that night.
Fall also means that the holidays are just around the corner. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve/ Day. I love the excitement this time of year brings. Yes, to some it can be stressful, but I welcome it. I live for it! Maybe I’m crazy, but even the air just smells different… it smells crisp and fall-ish. Give me that all day and I would not complain!
Lastly, (as if I’d forget) it’s pumpkin flavored everything season! (It’s my favorite right next to peppermint/mint for the Christmas season) Nowadays you can literally find everything pumpkin flavored. I do love a good Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks during this season. I’m guilty of being swayed by the marketing of many pumpkin flavored products, but I justify it as they’re limited edition, I love pumpkin flavors, and duh, it’s the fall!
What are some of your fall favorites or things to do?
