I have many Colourpop liquid lipsticks in my collection so narrowing down just six of them was a little difficult. I originally was going to do my top favorite five, but five turned into six… and as I kept going through my collection I knew six would lead to seven, and so on and so forth. I guess we’ll consider this my top six favorites at the moment. These six colors are ones that I find myself wearing a lot. I have three ultra satin finishes and three ultra matte finishes. I personally love matte lips, but I find satin lip finishes to be just as beautiful and find myself wearing that type of finish more and more often.
I know as with anything you’ll find some people either really love a certain brand or really hate it. Same goes for Colourpop, some either hate it and others really love it. I happen to really like this brand. I’ve only tried their liquid lipsticks and liners so far. I’m really interested in some of their eyeshadows (I’ve found quite a few colors that look stunning) but I heard those shadows only really apply well (for the full color payout) with using your finger and not a brush. I don’t ever use that kind of method to apply my shadows and I don’t like the idea of using shadows that require that kind of method. If the color payout was the same with using a brush method I’d be on some of those eyeshadows in a heartbeat. That’s the only reason I’ve held off on trying any of the shadows as of right now.
As far as the liquid lipsticks go, I feel that for the price you’re paying ($6) you’re getting a pretty good product. I will say some of the mattes from this brand, I tend to find can be pretty drying on my lips, where other brands I don’t have that super dry feel. I find that only to be the case with some of the lighter shades and not the darker ones. Some of the lighter shades can look a little crumbly and dry. Not all, just some. For the most part I don’t have any issues that would keep me from purchasing or repurchasing in the future. They’re long wearing and you get a great color payout. (I do have to do minor touchups throughout the day with some of them.) All for $6? You can’t really complain too much. It’s definitely something you should check out if you’re new to makeup or wanting to try liquid lipsticks (they also have lippie stix which are not in a liquid form if you aren’t a fan of liquid lipsticks) but don’t want to pay a lot for the high end brands.
• Littlestitious – (satin) A dusty pastel pink. I think this color is a beautiful pink shade. I usually find myself wearing this with a simple eye look, or just lashes and mascara and toping it off with this color. For me, this is my favorite pink shade. It’s not too bight or too pale. I love it.
•Bianca – (matte) A soft mauve pink. A great shade if you love mauve colors. I like mauve pink tones and I think this would work really well with most skin tones.
•Dopey– (satin) dusty mauve. This color on me kind of looks a little like Dose Of Colors ‘Stone’ when I put it on. It looks a lot different on me than one the website picture. It’s beautiful nonetheless and I really like it.
•Beeper– (matte) mid-tone taupe. I think this is one of their popular shades and I can see why. When I first got it, I fell in love with the shade.
•Chi– (matte) Cool tone nude beige. I love this shade so much! I get the most compliments on this color. I love nude beige colors and this one is definitely a winner. It’s just a great nude shade and will look great on everyone.
•Baracuda– (satin) warm deep rose color. I know these are all my top favorite six colors and I love them all so much…. BUT this color is my hands down favorite, favorite Colourpop shade. It’s so perfect and I love how it looks on me! I’ve really been into reds and burgundy and terracotta colors for the fall. This would make a great addition to any fall lippie collections. This is a satin color so it doesn’t dry down matte and will transfer, but I’ve noticed with their satin shades the transfer is not bad at all. For me (at least) it’s just minimal.
All and all I’d recommend Colourpop. It’s a really great alternative if you’re looking to expand your makeup collection and add or try new shades without breaking the bank. They have a lot of colors to choose from and are always adding more.
One thing I did want to mention was the fact that a lot of people say Colourpop and Kylie Cosmetics are the exact same thing- just cheaper. I could not disagree with that more. I’m aware they’re made in the same factory and share some of the same ingredients, but Kylie Cosmetics are hands down one of my favorite liquid lipsticks. Kylie’s feel so lightweight and last all day and night, no matter what I do! I really love her formula. As I mentioned above, I find CP (some of the matte shades) to be very drying and sometimes crumbly. I find their formula to be really watery, where (besides Kylie’s Kourt K shade) hers are a more mousey texture. I do see a big similarity in the Colourpop & KC lip pencils. Both of those are so creamy and some of the best liners around (imo) but as far as the liquid lipsticks, I don’t think they’re the same at all, nor do they perform the same.
Have any of you tried Colourpop before? Did you have a good experience with them? What types of shades are your favorite? Let me know. Thanks for reading. 🙂
