By now you’re all aware that I rate Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipsticks as some of my favs. Going as far to say, I think they maybe even my TOP favorite when it comes to liquid lipsticks. I base this on the fact that I love her formula, the longevity of the product, the feeling on my lips, and of course- the final result, the color payout.
As with every company you’re going to have your pros and cons. You can still love a company and their products, but not love every product they come out with. Sometimes formulas are different in each product, or the product itself just doesn’t work well with us, whatever the case, you’re not going to love every single thing a company puts out. While I love Kylie’s lippies, I’m not totally in love with every single one of them. I have my favorites and my not so favorites. I have that with every brand I love. Some colors I adore and can’t get enough of, some colors I shudder at the thought I purchased them in the first place and regret wasting money. That’s life. It’s a chance you take, especially when ordering online and not being able to swatch and see a product in person. I do think that makes it tough and that is one big downside to ordering from Kylie Cosmetics, or other online based beauty companies. You can’t run to Sephora and swatch a color. You have to go by pictures posted by said company or big beauty influencers who in all likelihood are getting paid (or at least some kind of “perk” to promote them) It can really make it difficult.
I’ve had plenty of times where I saw a color that looked amazing on whoever, but when I purchased it, the color looked nothing like it did on me as it did on others I saw. That’s not anyone’s fault, of course, we’re all different so nothing is going to look exactly the same on me as it does someone else. Results vary and that’s normal. So many factors come into play with situations like that. Also, the opposite can be said as well. I’ve had colors I didn’t know if I’d like the color/ look good on me, (I saw other examples of people wearing them and hated it on them) ended up getting that color and it was amazing. You just never know. Basically, I’m just saying it’s a chance you take. Just something to keep in mind.
- Maliboo – A light cool tone nude.
It has gray undertones, which I love in lipsticks. This color for some reason just doesn’t do it for me. I bought it because, well, I love nudes, I love nudes that have gray undertones, but I was sold because it looked fantastic on Kylie! I loved that shade from all the promo pics she was in. I thought, okay, this is going to be your new favorite nude, Jenn! It wasn’t too dark or too light. It looked perfect. Needless to say, when I tried it out, it shows up way too dark (for my liking) even when I was very tan over the summer, it still didn’t complement me the way I thought it would. I thought it was going to be more of a nuder nude if that makes sense? I just don’t see anything special with this color. I’ve tried wearing it maybe four or five times already? *Hoping each time I’d change my mind* sadly, it just sits in a drawer reserved specifically for lippies that will probably never see the light of day again.
- Pumpkin – Dirty mid tone orange.
I don’t hate this color at all… but I also don’t love it either. It’s just… okay. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful color, perfect for the fall and winter, but it’s nothing really special to me. I feel it’s a bit drying. I never have that issue with Kylie’s lipsticks so that kind of surprised me. I don’t know if the formula is a little different than other liquid lipsticks she has, or is it just me? Like I said, the color is pretty… this just doesn’t wow me enough though.
- Kourt K – Deep purple.
Of all the colors from the Kylie collection this one has to be the worst. Oh, Kourt K, I had high hopes for you when I first got you. The formula on this is awful. It’s really watery, runny, and patchy. I have to go back in multiple times trying to apply product to my lips to try and cover the patchy areas, but it’s no use. It ends up looking like a hot mess. A shame, really, this is a great shade for fall. I love purple tones! I don’t like this formula at all. It’s so weird and hard to work with. I think if the formula was improved this would be a stunner of a shade. This is one of the first colors I got, which was a while ago, so maybe the formula has improved since then? I’m not too sure, but I read reviews and my guess is it’s still the same.
You can see the patchiness in these swatches with Kourt K. It just dries down almost not fully matte either for some reason. If this formula was revamped and improved I’d probably be all about it!
What are some of your least favorite colors from Kylie or other brands? Has there been a certain color you were looking forward to and ended up being disappointed? Let me know!
Thanks for reading! 🙂
