I was finally able to get my hands on this collection during Kylie’s last restock. The first time she launched this, I was on the site at the exact moment it went live, added it to my cart, was placed in the “waiting area” to pay, only to be told it was “sold out” six minutes later. I was so disappointed! Luckily she decided to do one more restock because apparently that same situation I had happen to me… happened to many others. The next time she restocked, I was still a little anxious it would sell out again and what happened the first time to me would happen again. This time around it was a lot smoother and I think it sold out a couple of hours later. I really hate when products that a company knows are in high demand sell out in minutes. It can be really frustrating as a consumer, especially if it’s an item you’ve had your eye on and just want so badly.
I’ll be honest, when I first saw this collection what really stood out to me was the lip gloss, ‘Damn Gina’ If she had sold that separately I probably would have only purchased just that as a single. Khlo$ was another shade I thought looked pretty, so maybe I would have bought the two. I wasn’t too excited for the colors, ‘Okurrr’ or ‘Gorg’ Okurrr looked like a color that was too bright, too hot pink for me. I hardly ever wear those type of colors and just don’t think they suit me.
Right away I was impressed by the packaging. I love the all white cover and box these lip products come in. The Gold lettering and cursive font makes it stand out and look elegant, in my opinion. I think it’s just a really nice touch. This would make a great gift or stocking stuffer for any makeup lover or Kylie Jenner fan. It just looks fancy, unlike Kylie’s typical dripping lips. Don’t get me wrong, I love that packaging and imagine too. I think that was a very unique label and image she decided to market her products with. This collection, where she teamed up with Khloe just seems more adult, classy. It’s a representation of Khloe, at least that’s how I feel Khloe appears in the public. It’s simple, soft, beautiful. The lipsticks (and gloss) themselves are just as stunning. I love the golden tubes they come in with the dripping lips in the color of that shade. So gorgeous! You all know I’m such a big fan of packaging and Kylie and Khloe and their team did a fantastic job with the aesthetic of these items. For me, I’m storing these inside their packaging and not removing them to add them individually to my collection. I love the whole look of how these are packaged together too much to do that!Aside from the look alone with this collection, I’ll admit, I’m a little disappointed. In all honesty… these colors are nothing special. It kills me to say that because if you’ve been reading, you know I love me some Kylie Cosmetics! I’ve said time and time again that her lippies are some of the best and probably my top favorite when it comes to liquid lipsticks. The colors in this collection just don’t do it for me. They’re beautiful colors , there’s just nothing unique or different about them. I feel either they’re similar to other Kylie shades she already has out, or just other shades I already have in my collection from other brands. None of these would be a top favorite that I could see myself wearing every single day. Like I said, to me, there’s nothing special about them. I guess that could be looked at as a good thing since these were limited edition.
- Kloe$ – (A cool yellow nude.) When I first put this on, my first thought was, “This is showing up a lot darker on me than I wanted it to/ how it looked when I saw it.” For some reason I thought this was going to be a lighter nude. When I saw this on someone (not sure who it was was? Kylie? Khloe? Someone else?) I really loved it & hoped it would show like that on me. This color reminds me a little bit of Candy K, not as deep though. Candy K is one of my favorites… I think this color is somewhat similar, but this is more browish on me than Candy K. This color is alright, but won’t be something I’ll wear often. I have a couple of similar colors from Colourpop that are close to Khlo$ I also feel this dries down to be too brown for my liking. It’s not a bad color, I think I’m just disappointed it’s not a bit lighter as I would have hoped for.
- Gorg – (A deep red burgundy wine) I love vampy red wine type colors. I really love this color… I don’t love the application. It’s streaky and patchy. In order for it to be opaque you need to add multiple layers and then I feel that starts to get and look messy. I felt it was a challenge trying to get a clean, crisp application when applying this one because it is so streaky. The color itself is gorgeous! I’m not sure if I’d wear this one often just because I have similar colors that are not streaky & patchy or hard to apply like this one is.
- Okurrr – ( Bright fuschia) I thought this one was going to be my least favorite color out of them all. Once I applied this, I really liked it. I don’t typically wear shades this color because I don’t like the way I look in them, but this is really pretty. It’s not as bad as I initially thought. I think this color would look amazing on medium and darker skin tones. I’ll probably wear this color every now and again, especially if I just want to go for a bold lip. I might possibly hold off until the summer once I start self tanning and visit this shade again. I think this would be a great spring/ summer shade as well.
- Damn Gina – ( A soft shimmery nude gloss) This gloss has a lot of glitter! When I took it off I had a ton of small little specks of glitter all over my lips and mouth. I don’t have a problem with that at all (I welcome glitter like I do air and money) Damn Gina is very sparkly and such a great color. It’s not super pigmented, but pigmented just enough to make for a nude gloss. I’d probably wear this often.
I also wanted to point out that the colors Okurrr and Gorg do stain your lips pretty badly, but I find that to be the case with many darker & bright colors such as those ones. In my opinion, I think if you missed out on this collection then it’s no biggie. The colors themselves aren’t anything spectacular – especially if you have a lot of other Kylie lipsticks, you’re not really missing out. I’d say the packaging is the best part. Again, that’s just my opinion. I can be kind of picky with products. I don’t hate these at all, but I also don’t love them. They’re just okay. I pretty much knew that going in, as I just really wanted Damn Gina. Khlo$ was the only one that was disappointing because I wanted that to be a lighter nude and not as brownish on me.
Let me know, did any of you guys grab this or pass? If you did get it, how are you liking it? What’s your favorite shade(s)?
Thanks for reading! 🙂
