November Nails

So it’s a new month (technically the month is almost over, but I get my nails done every month) and with that, I got my new nail design. I seriously love getting my nails done! I don’t always know what I want to do until sometimes moments before I enter the salon. (That’s pretty rare, but it’s been known to happen) Mostly, I like to have some kind of idea of what I want and I want to really like the design, especially since I’m wearing it for four weeks. I usually go in there with an image or a photo of something that’s caught my eye. Amy is really great because she puts her own spin on whatever design I ask her to recreate or just create in general. She’s very artistic and creative, I’m so lucky to have someone like that.

MAC Nutcracker Collection Mini Haul + Swatches

I am so happy I was able to pick up a few items from this collection. I knew from the minute I saw MAC was launching these beauties, I needed to take some of these goodies home with me .

Of course, the packaging caught my attention at first. MAC really hits it out of the park every time with these limited edition collections- and packaging! This one being no exception. It’s just too good! The products themselves look just as exquisite upon opening them, as they do in their packaging. So much beauty! I can’t take it!

The one item I HAD to have… HAD to have if I was only able to grab one was, the Sweet Peach Face Compact. It is such a beauty, let me tell you, it’s even better looking in person! I didn’t think I was going to be able to pick this one up because it was sold out online and in all the MAC stores, Nordstrom’s, etc around me. (I called multiple locations trying to track it down) Continue reading

img-thingAs the holidays start to approach I started thinking, where did this year go? Seriously, where did it go? How is Thanksgiving in five days?? Some days I feel like January just started… and now here we are in full blown holiday mode? Could time go any faster? I really wish there was some kind of magic button to stop time, or at the very least, sloooow it down some. When you’re a kid you think you have all the time in the world. You think time moves far too slow. Months seem like they’ll never come and years seem like it’s an eternity away. Of course, as you get older, you realize how precious time is. Time moves whether you want it to or not… and unfortunately there is no pause button, it will move regardless if we’re ready for it or not. That’s just life.  Continue reading

Holiday Makeup Wish List

imageAs if the holidays aren’t stressful enough with trying to find the perfect gifts for family and friends, keeping your sanity throughout the entire process (leading up and especially on the actual holiday(s) itself gathered with family) money can get a little tight, and if you’re a shopper (like me) it can be challenging when you see all these new holiday collections releasing soon- right before the holidays. I was trying to think back to last year and I don’t think I was as eager and wanting many holiday goodies as I do this year. Ironic, because all my Christmas shopping was done very early and I had money to spare for whatever may have caught my eye. Fast forward to this year and I have NOTHING done or ordered as far as Christmas shopping goes… really, Jenn? I don’t know why I haven’t even started yet. I’ve tried looking online with certain family members in mind and always get distracted and do something else, or I’m drawing a blank on what to get people this year. Not only that… I’m seeing so many collections from brands I want. Everyone is coming out with such amazing things and I’m like, no, stop! Can we wait until AFTER Christmas? Either that or could you just not put out amazing products? Thanks. That would be perfect.  Continue reading

My Top 10 MAC Lipsticks

imageI’ve been a fan of MAC Cosmetics for such a long time. They were probably one of, (if not THE one) higher end brands I started buying from when I transitioned away from drugstore makeup. I fell in love with their products immediately. For a period of time, MAC was the only makeup brand I was buying from. I loved the quality of the products, the way they performed, the packaging, everything! MAC was an addiction and shopping at the MAC store and counters was something I did pretty often.  Continue reading

Yankee Candle Haul!

imageI couldn’t pass up another trip to Yankee Candle. The sale of B2G2 free is still going on until November 23. I did a B2G2 and BOGO (which ended either today or yesterday) for a total of six candles. I went in just to look… (yeah, right) I was expecting to find more candles that I’d be interested in, but the candles I did pick up were “backups.” Basically ones I already own that I love and like to have an extra of for when they’re no longer in stores. The only except was ‘Apple Butter’ that was a new one for me. I’ve never burned it before.

I really haven’t kept up on all the Yankee “news” and what’s been happening so I guess I was kinda hoping for some new candle goodies. New scents for the winter/ holiday season. Other than the new Cookie Swap collection I picked up last time, nothing was really too new. I saw Christmas candles, lots of returning ones from past years, but I’m not a big fan of those. I like bakery, foodie smells. I’m also not a huge fan of peppermint scents. Some can be very nice, but I’m not much of a fan of the ones Yankee puts out. Cherries On Snow is a good one, but I wasn’t feeling it today so I decided to pass on that.

imageThe Balsam & Cedar room spray is my husbands. He loves Christmas(y) scents. I can only take them in small doses. The Christmas Cookie scent is mine and smells similar to Vanilla Cupcake from Yankee. Either way, it smells yummy! I love these room sprays over the Bath & Body Works ones because while these are strong, they’re not as powerful as the Bath & Body Works ones. I want strong fragrance sprays, but not to the point where it chokes me up and is overpowering. I find the B&BW ones to be just too much. These ones are nice because they’re strong, but not very heavy. It’s a nice balance. These retail at $7.99 each! I find that a bit crazy for such a small product. Personally I wouldn’t pay almost $8 for this- and I don’t! I get these when they’re on sale or I go to my Yankee Candle outlet and purchase them for a cheaper price. I’m not sure how long the sale is going on for these, but I paid $4.00 each. Much better than $8!

As I mentioned, all of these candles (with the exception of Apple Butter) I have burned in the past. These are a few of my favorites. I love the scent on every single one of these and get a good throw with them all. For the most part, all of them fill a room with their fragrance. Peach Cobbler is a bit light in scent and is the least powerful of them all, but I adore this scent. I love it so much! While it is quite light, what I do smell from it keeps me buying more and more of them. I do wish it was super powerful because it is such a sweet beautiful smell. I’d recommend all these scents, especially if you’re into food/ bakery notes. These are fantastic and I pick up multiple backups for when I run out.

Have you guys tried any of these scents before? Picked up anything at the sale? Let me know!

Thanks for reading! 🙂

Current High End & Drugstore Brand Mascara

imageI’m kind of picky, or maybe snobby when it comes to mascara. It’s not necessarily the mascara itself, as it is the brush/ mascara wand.  I have a certain kind of wand I like using. I need it to be sturdy and not flimsy/ I’m going to flop around, break in your hand kind of wand. Plus I really focus on the size of the wand and how big the bristles are. I like a lot of volume and big, long, dramatic lashes. I like any kind of mascara that is going to give you both. My lashes naturally, unfortunately, are neither. Continue reading
