Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I love everything about this holiday. Christmas decorations and home decor are both things I love doing and enjoy looking at. I love the feel of the holidays, it just seems magical. While the holidays can be stressful and fast paced, I really do enjoy every minute of it. We spend most of the month planning, decorating, shopping, preparing, all for this one day that is gone as quickly as it arrives. It’s a day for family, church, (if you’re religious) friends, good food, and making special memories together. It’s something I’ve looked forward to and loved since I was a little girl.
Since I love Christmas so much, what’s more fitting than doing a Christmas tag? I got this from and she went on and on… please be sure to check out her blog! She is very sweet with great content and one of my favorites! I love her blog a lot!
1. What is your favorite Christmas film?
I have many Christmas movies I love… but the one I have to watch every year, (and have since I was young) is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Such a classic! I mean who’s better than Clark Griswold? Runner up is : The Grinch!
2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?
Yes! I’m from New England so getting snow is a given during the winter months. It’s not too often surprisingly, we get a ‘White Christmas’ you’d think we’d get them more often, although I can’t actually remember the last time we had one. It’s been several years at least. On the rare occasion we do get one, I just love it, and think it adds to the “magic” that is Christmas.
3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?
My husband and I usually split the days between both of our families.
4. What is your favorite Christmas song?
Mariah Carey “All I Want For Christmas” her Christmas album has been a favorite for YEARS!! I play it all the time- starting usually the week of Thanksgiving to probably throughout most of January lol. It’s something I’ve done for a long time.
5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Yes! It’s actually something I’ve done since I was very small. My parents are divorced (since I was really, really young) we’d spend Christmas Eve either at my Dad’s house when we were younger, or he’d spend it at ours. Our Christmas was always done on Christmas Eve with him, so my presents from him were opened that night.
6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Vixen, Prancer, Cupid, Comet, Donner, & Blitzen. I think that’s all of them?? lol
7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Growing up it was always fake. My mom has really bad asthma and the smell of the tree causes her to have an attack. I remember when I was a kid, I always wanted a real tree because all my friends had one and I wanted to have that experience. As I got older I sorta got over wanting a real tree… I don’t want to deal with the mess, or the maintenance. Plus I’m paranoid now about having bugs or squirrels living in there. (Thanks National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation) My husband also hates real trees, as he grew up with them. We considered getting one the first year we were married but quickly decided against it. I think they’re beautiful and I love in theory the idea of going Christmas tree picking, finding your tree, cutting it down (not me personally- my husband ) and bringing it home… that’s just in theory though.
9. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?
I always look forward to Vanilla or Golden Egg Nog… and pumpkin pie!
10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
When I was a kid I was all about getting presents! It’s what I looked forward to the most. Being an adult, I started to really love Christmas shopping for others. I love when you buy someone something that you know they really want & seeing their faces when you give them their presents. It makes me happy and I love Christmas shopping for others (as well as myself, I mean we’re being honest here.) 😉
11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I love everything I get… but nothing is jumping out at the moment. I could name a bunch of stuff I wanted as a kid that I was so excited I got. I think maybe because I buy what I want as an adult so nothing is standing out to me at the moment. Everything I’m fortunate enough to get is the best. I’m always grateful I’m thought of.
12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
My husband and I have talked about going to Florida or California. I really want to go to Disney to see it durning that time. (We’ve never gone to Disney around the holidays and I love seeing how it’s decorated from Halloween till Christmas) or Hawaii.
13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
Omg I wish I was a pro present wrapper! I admire those that can wrap presents like nobodies business. I love the idea of wrapping.. I get the cute paper, bows, everything… but my wrapping skills are sad. Very sad. 😦 I have my husband wrap everyone’s presents and I have a family member wrap my husband’s presents for me…. lol or I get a super cute gift bag and decorate that. Yeah, it’s sad. I’m ashamed.
14. Most memorable Holiday moment?
I have a bunch from when I was a kid. Our Christmas’ were always so elaborate and fun. I have many from those times. As I got older, Christmas is still nice, but it’s different. Way less elaborate… I dunno, everything is different when you’re an adult. I have a lot from when I was younger though.
15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?
Omg, I don’t even remember. I don’t know how I realized he wasn’t real, my Mom would still sign “From Santa” on all the Christmas tags until I was like fifteen years old LOL. I’m going to say it was probably my brother who ruined it for me. Both my siblings are much older than me and he was probably being a jerk and ruined it.
16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
No way! I think they’re pointless. If I want to do something I’m going to do it & I’ll do it now. I don’t want to wait and make plans for something that will probably lead me to procrastinating & never get around to doing. I’ve always been the kind of person that once I get an idea, or something I want to do, I do it. I hate waiting! With that said, I used to make silly kid ones when I was in like middle school and never stuck to them.
17. What makes the holidays special for you?
