Yankee Candle Strawberry Cheesecake retails for $27.99 and is a returning treasure (which means it won’t be around for a long time) This candle was new to me, as I had never seen it before. I was interested in it so I picked it up.
I love foodie scents. Bakery, gourmand, vanilla, yummy goodness. Those are the kinds of candles I love to smell and want my house to smell like. When I first saw this candle I was a little hesitant because it says, Strawberry Cheesecake… I don’t know about you, but I’m not much of a fan of cheesecake notes. I think for most of them they smell like soured milk. It’s usually so potent that it overpowers the rest of the candle for me and I have to put it out immediately. I usually end up giving that candle away or exchanging it for one I like that doesn’t make me sick. (Scentsy makes a beautiful Blueberry Cheesecake melt that I love and is my favorite.)
On cold sniff this candle smelled lovely. All I could smell was a syrupy strawberry scent. I loved it! I didn’t get any cheesecake notes, I was hoping I wouldn’t (or at least they wouldn’t be as strong once burning)
The website describes this candle as : “The heavenly scent of decadently rich cheesecake topped with irresistibly sweet strawberries.”
When this candle burns I only smell strawberries and a golden graham crust note. I pick up no cheesecake scent at all, which I’m pleased with because I was hoping it wouldn’t ruin the candle by smelling that sour milky scent. The strawberry note in this is very artificial smelling. It’s not the fresh strawberry kind. It’s more of an artificial strawberry syrup smell. It reminds me of the artificial syrups you use for a strawberry slush, or topping. Something close to that. I’m okay with it not smelling authentic. I don’t mind an artificial sweet smell. As you know, I love overly sweet smelling candles so this is perfect. Underneath the strawberry note I can detect a golden graham crust note. It’s not very strong, the main note I smell is the strawberry, however it’s very subtle and comes together nicely.
- Burning – I’ve had no problems with burn time with this candle so far. Often times with large Yankee Candle jars you have to “babysit” them and watch for tunneling, or soot. So far, this candle has been pretty good. It does have minor soot issues, none too bad though.
- Scent throw – The scent throw on this is pretty good. I can’t complain. I’d say it was about a six or seven most times burning. It’s not throw you out of the room powerful… yet it’s also not so light you can’t smell a thing. It’s about a high medium. I can definitely smell it once I leave the room and come back into it. I can even smell it lightly down the hall from the room it’s in.
All and all I am really enjoying this candle. So much so, I already picked up another one as a backup. I think this is a nice sweet scent and I like it a lot. If you’re looking for a true authentic “Strawberry Cheesecake” scent, you won’t get that from this candle and will probably be disappointed. If that doesn’t bother you and you like sweet scents, I’d say go for it!
As I mentioned, this candle retails for $27.99 and can be purchased on Yankee Candle Yankee Candle Website or can be found in most retail stores for a limited time. It’s a large 22 oz jar with a burn time of 110-150 hours.
