Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint Review- Salty & PillowTalk

img_9365I wanted to try Tarte’s Quick Dry Matte Lip paint since I heard these were possibly reformulated and true matte liquid lipsticks. Not too long ago I reviewed the Tarteist Creamy Matte lip paint. If you’re interested, you can read it here : Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint

I will tell you that not too many colors jumped out at me. I felt I didn’t need a lot of these shades. I was, however, most interested in Salty and Pillowtalk. Those are the two I picked up. I saw swatches online before I went in to buy them and they were colors that I needed. You all know how that goes. In store, they swatched nicely and I was pretty excited to get them home to test them out on my lips.

Right off the bat I could tell the formula was different than their ‘Creamy lip paints.’ Those have a mousse texture, these have a liquid texture. I’m a fan of both textures when it comes to liquid lipsticks. I know some people prefer one or the other, I typically enjoy both and don’t have a preference. As long as the color is one I like, I’m not too critical of liquid lipsticks. Unless they completely suck… well, then, that’s another story.

Salty – Is described as a pink nude.

Pillowtalk – Is described as a  white nude

Both of these colors are beautiful and I’m loving them so much. I can say that they perform amazing! Unlike the Creamy Lip Paints, these do not transfer and they dry down completely matte! They’re actually very fast drying as soon as you apply them.

In the back of my mind I think I was expecting them to be like the other lip paints and transfer horribly, or just not be completely matte. That was not the case and I’m super happy with the performance, color, everything!

I really like Tarte products and I’m happy they found a formula that seems to be working. I’m a huge fan of the color ‘Namaste’ from the Creamy lip paints… I just wish that one was a true matte and didn’t transfer so much. As I mentioned, I’m not super picky when it comes to liquid lipsticks. If I really love a color, really love it, I can overlook some things as long as the color is pigmented. I don’t like my matte lippies to transfer, I don’t like to have to reapply, but I will do it if it’s a color I like and love how it looks on me.

I find myself drawn a little more to Pillowtalk. White nudes have really become my thing. I love Salty, believe me, they’re both gorgeous! I just find Pillowtalk a little bit more stunning and reach for it more often than Salty.

I may stop back into Sephora or Ulta and see if any other colors jump out at me. Maybe I’ll swatch some. ( I only swatched the two colors I was interested in buying) I do like this formula a lot better and I’m always looking to add more lippies to my collection.

You can buy these at Sephora, Ulta, or on Tarte’s website. They retail for $20 for 0.20 fl oz.

Let me know, have you tried any colors from this collection? Or do you want to? What colors interest you the most?

Thanks for reading! 🙂
