I was really excited to try Jouer Cosmetics highlighters. As you know, highlighters (lipstick & blush) are my obsession at the moment. Before I placed my order, I originally just had my eye on the new ‘Skinny Dip’ lip topper.
The pictures of that lip topper looked stunning! I own two other lip toppers from them and wanted to get Skinny Dip to add to my collection.
I think because I wanted the lip topper, I wanted to add the highlighter as well. I decided to go with an additional highlighter… well, because it was hard not to pick more than just one. 🙂
I didn’t really know how well these highlighters would work. I’ve only tried Jouer’s liquid lipsticks and lip toppers before, but I was optimistic that these would be just as good, quality wise, performance, pigment, etc.
I was impressed with the packaging – very fancy, very pretty. The highlighter itself is pretty small, very lightweight. That’s not a bad thing. I personally don’t care about that, I was more interested in how these little babies would perform.
Look how gorgeous those colors are?! I’m happy to say that they are just as amazing as they look! If you guys have been reading my blog for a while, you know I like my highlight blinding. I love to glow!
I first tried Skinny Dip one night when my husband and I were heading out. It was night and we were heading to the car when he said, “I can see your highlight, you’re glowing … ” (might have said blinding – not sure)
Yes! Yes! That is what I want lol. Mission accomplished!
I liked that it didn’t require a lot of product to try and build this up to get that – BOOM! Blinding highlight. No. It was one or two times I had to dip in. Again, I don’t mind having to build up highlight, but it’s always a plus when I can accomplish that result rather quickly using less product.
Overall, I’m really impressed by the quality of Jouer’s highlighters. Really impressed! I think I’m going to order the other two I have my eye on. Citrine, and Rose Quartz. I love the way this highlight looks, feels, everything! Definitely would recommend giving them a try.
As for the lip topper, ‘Skinny Dip’ it’s nice. I don’t know how I really feel about their lip toppers, though, to be honest. I like them… however, I don’t love them. I don’t seem to get the desired look I’m going for with them.
I don’t know what it is… I don’t know what trickery some of these beauty gurus do to make the product look soo amazing. Even when I try pairing the same color with the lip topper, mine does not come out looking how it does on the beauty guru. I’m just kinda left with it looking and feeling like, meh!
Not to say it looks awful, it doesn’t. I like the lip toppers… I just don’t get that same desired effect I see, so then I’m just like, eh, did I really need this? Probably not.
They’re pretty on their own, but it’s a lip topper so it’s not opaque and I feel it’s too sheer (for my personal preference) for me to want to wear it on its own.
Everyone else seems to love the lip toppers. I guess I’m just kinda indifferent about them?
If you’d like to purchase any of the products I’ve talked about, you can buy them online from Jouer Cosmetics, or Beautylish. The highlighters retail for $24 each. Lip toppers retail for $16 each.
What do you guys think? Have you tried any of Jouer’s lip toppers? Highlighters? What has your experience been like? Let me know!
Thanks for reading! 🙂
