I’ve had both of these palette’s for a little while now & have been meaning to let you guys know what my thoughts are on them. *insert face palm emoji here* Better late than never, right?
I’m not one to purchase a lot of drugstore makeup. It’s just a personal preference and I don’t find many brands that I like, or blow me away as I do with high end products. However, I do have a couple of brands I really do enjoy and buy products from: Milani, NYX, and more recently, Makeup Revolution.
Makeup Revolution is still pretty new to me. I think I “discovered” them a couple of months ago when I saw someone tag them in these gorgeous highlighters (Skin Kiss ones) on Instagram. I remember thinking the highlighters looked so good, the swatches I saw were so pigmented, so perfect. I ended up buying them… although, in the back of my mind I kept thinking, “How good could these really be?” I didn’t have high hopes.
Those highlighters turned out to be some of my favorites! I got all three colors they carry and use them quite often. The glow is phenomenal! So that was my first experience with this brand. I started seeing these blush palettes popping up…. looks alone, I wanted them.
Gorgeous, right?! With the Golden Sugar 2 Palette, there are eight colors. Two contours, 3 blushes, 3 highlighters. You could use the colors as eyeshadows as well, it’s all up to you. I haven’t applied them as eyeshadows yet, but will eventually give that a try.
All the colors are very pigmented. They apply well. With maybe, one or two of the colors, I do have to dip my brush in a few times to build up a little more for a better color payout. Nothing to the extent of having to work so hard to build it up, though. It was with one of the lighter blushes I had that problem, and one of the contour shades.
The colors seemed to last for a few hours, I did find I had to touch up my look a couple of times throughout the day because the color seemed to fade a little. Overall, I like this palette. For the price (it retails for $10) it’s pretty good. I like the color selection. I like how they perform, how the product applies, it lasts for a good amount of time. All good stuff!
The Blush Palette Queen is the one I love the most out of the two! I just really, really, love the look of this palette. I love the color selection a lot! They’re baked blushes and I’ve used every one of the colors. I don’t dislike any of them. I think with one or two of the lighter shades, you could probably use as a highlight color if you wanted. They have shimmer to some of them, so they would be good for eyeshadow as well as highlight, if you chose to use them that way.
I found these colors lasted me all day! I didn’t need to reapply once. With the lighter shades in this palette, you may need to go in a few times with your brush to build up. It depends on how much blush you enjoy. I sometimes like a lot of blush, especially if the color is a lighter pink or a violet undertone.
This palette retails for $10 as well. For the price, I’d say this is a great choice. It didn’t disappoint at all. Makeup Revolution I have to say, has been really impressing me lately. I have my eye on a few other products from them that I’m curious to see how they perform. So far so good, though.
Have any of you tried this brand before? Have you bought these palettes? What did you think? Let me know! I’d love to hear your experience with them.
Thanks for reading! 🙂
