Worth The Hype? Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette. My Thoughts + Swatches

This palette released just in time for those sizzling hot days of summer. I feel like I need to be in Miami sipping on frozen margaritas by the beach with this one. This warm toned palette looks very fiery…  Very hot. With that said, it also reminds me of the cool crisp days of the fall. The colors in the palette are very versatile, and, I think, perfect for both seasons.

The palette includes twelve shades and retails for $54. These shadows are all highly pigmented, bold, and stunning colors. The shadows range from mattes and shimmers with warmer orange and red toned hues. I think the packaging for this palette really suits and sums up what you expect the inside shadows to look like. This isn’t your “typical” Naked palette.

The shades included are :

  • Ounce – Light golden beige with a pearl shimmer
  • Chaser – Light nude matte
  • Sauced – Medium orange brown with a matte finish
  • Low Blow – Brown matte with orange undertones
  • Lumbre – Copper shimmer
  • He Devil – Dark reddish brown matte
  • Dirty Talk – Coppery brown metallic
  • Scorched – Dark brown with warm reddish metallic undertones
  • Cayenne – Terra- cotta matte
  • En Fuego – Medium burgundy matte
  • Ashes – Muted plum matte
  • Ember – Deep bronzy plum metallic

Is this palette worth it?  I think if you’re looking for a beautiful warm toned palette, something you can use for the summer and the fall… this would be perfect. I do really like this palette. I love Urban Decay and they’re some of my favorite shadows – one of my favorite brands!

Not all of these shadows swatched particularly well. Don’t let that discourage you. While the swatches weren’t the best, that’s no indication of how well they will perform on your eyes. I had no problems with blending out these colors. Two or three of the matte colors were a little patchy, maybe too powdery? I wouldn’t say they were extremely difficult to blend out… however, it just required a little more build up to apply evenly. It took a little more work than I would have liked it to. No biggie for me, but something to keep in mind.

I think the shimmer and metallics are gorgeous! They apply so well and really pop. You can create some impressive looks with this palette and really have some fun. As always with Urban Decay shadows, these colors lasted all day and night. I never have any problems with longevity when it comes to their shadows. A++ in that department.

While I personally love this palette… I know many felt they didn’t need this or thought it swatched terribly and based their decision on that. I mean, I needed this palette because I’m a huge fan of UB and the Naked palettes in general. I loved the look of this palette because it screams heat and hotness… but I also get fall vibes and that’s my favorite time of the year!

This is a perfect addition to my collection and I couldn’t be more thrilled to own it. I’ve been using it this whole week so far and loving the outcome! I would recommend this palette for anyone who is interested.

I know a lot of people decided to pass on this palette. If you did, what made you pass on it? If you own it, how are you liking it so far? Let me know!

Thanks for reading! 🙂

  2. Hey! So glad I came across your blog! I’m loving your reviews and swatches! It’s so refreshing coming across honest reviews and you seem like such a cool person!
After the dud (imo) that was the Smoky palette I swore I’d never buy another UD palette when it’s first released but after I saw the Heat palette I just couldn’t resist it. It has completely made up for the Smoky and I feel like UD has really stepped it up a notch with this one. It’s completely dominated every palette in my arsenal at the moment and I find it extremely versatile (even if the shades seem a little intimidating for daily wear). I just can’t get enough of it! The only shade I seem to have issues with is Ashes as I feel it’s a little patchy and can get muddy easily.
I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m pretty blown away by it overall.

    • Hi Brigid! Thank you very much for your kind words! I heard a lot of mixed reviews on the Smoky palette. I decided to pass on that one. I’m sorry to hear you didn’t like it. That’s always a bummer! Yes! The Heat palette is so wonderful (in my opinion) I do like all the other Naked palettes and own them (excluding the Smoky) I’ve always really loved UD and think their shadows are some of the best. Luckily, I’ve never had a problem with how they perform. I know many people don’t agree and think their shadows aren’t the best, but I personally love them! I’m excited to see what they come out with next! Thank you so much for your thoughts. I really enjoyed reading them! 😊💕💜
