I ordered mine online from Ulta. Unfortunately, the day I decided to order them… their stock was very limited! Pretty much all the colors I wanted to try were sold out. I had my eye on Butterscotch, Mocha, Mochi, and Parfait. I definitely wanted to try Glazed, however, I was a little on the fence at first with Brulee. (I wanted Butterscotch over that one and kind of “settled” for Brulee by default, or so I thought.
I was very intrigued by the look of these lipsticks. You all know I’m a sucker for packaging. I loved the Rose Gold container it comes in with the Dose Of Colors logo on the front. Once you open it up, I do love the black accent collar, and of course, the shape of the lipsticks are unique and very precise. The shape of these lipsticks sort of remind me of the Charlotte Tilbury ones.
My thoughts on the lipsticks after I tried them?
I really, really, liked the feeling of these. I’m a huge fan of liquid matte lipsticks, but sometimes a girl wants a good satin finish now and again. No, seriously, satin finishes are right up there with my mattes. I love them.
These lipsticks feel so creamy, silky, smooth, like a dream. I love it because the texture is like silk, but less drying than a matte. They’re very comfortable and highly pigmented! They’re not transfer proof, but with that said, they don’t go all over the place either.
I love both of the colors I ended up getting. (Although, I was originally on the fence with Brulee, it is gorgeous! I don’t know, for some reason, even though it is described as a “pinkish beige” I thought some of the pictures made it look darker for some reason. I think that’s why I was turned off at first. Low and behold, it is a very pretty pinky beige nude… and that makes me a happy girl!
I’m very happy with this purchase and plan to buy the other colors I wanted originally. I would definitely recommend these, especially to anyone who prefers a satin finish over a fully matte one. They’re long wearing and very comfortable! I also really love their color selection for this collection. I think there’s something for everyone, no matter if you’re into nudes or more deeper colors.
My only complaint would be… while, I love the look and packaging of the lipsticks, I don’t like the actual function of the packaging. It’s very dainty, but also the lipsticks don’t go fully down. They stay pretty upright like in the pictures (they twist up so there’s more product than what you see in just the pics… but they don’t twist all the way down like most lipsticks do to close them. If you know what I mean) so when you put the top back on, I’m always afraid they’re going to get smashed. If you notice in the picture, you can see some lipstick transfer on the bottom base that transferred from the lid to there. I’d suggest making it so the lipsticks are able to twist fully downward, while still keeping the same shape and packaging it comes in. (Haha, who am I to tell Dose Of Colors how to design their product??) Other than that, I’m pleased. 🙂
What do you guys think? Have you tried this collection? What colors did you pick up and how are you enjoying them? I’d love o hear. Let me know!
