Anastasia Beverly Hills released their matte lipsticks at the end of July, I believe. They’re a smooth, ultra matte finish, with 30 shades to choose from in this collection. They retail for $18 each and can be purchased at Ulta, Sephora, and online at ABH website.
I’ve been eyeing these since they were first released. I’m more into liquid lipstick, but do love a good ole’ regular lipstick every now and then. I’m a lipstick junkie, so really, I love them all! 🙂
I cashed in my 2k points at Ulta. (If you don’t shop at Ulta and take advantage of their rewards program.. you’re missing out & really need to) I used some of my points for these four shades.
- Buff : nude Salmon pink
- Dusty Mauve : antique heathered lilic
- Rum Punch : ripened plumberry
- Kiss : nude rose petal pink
When I first swatched these in store I was amazed at just how matte they were. They felt super matte, so matte that I thought they were going to make my lips feel super dry. Don’t get me wrong, I love mattes! I love nothing more than having a super matte lipstick. I don’t want my lipstick to budge until I’m ready to take it off at night.
I was prepared for these to feel very drying.
However, they actually feel really nice on the lips. Just as they are described, they’re a “smooth ulta matte finish.” With the exception of Rum Punch (ironically, that’s my favorite out of these four) I found Rum Punch to be drying, at least on my lips. It wasn’t anything intolerable, but out of the other three, this one was the most drying. It felt like I had something on my lips, where the other three felt like I had nothing on and was more comfortable.
The others, Kiss, Dusty Mauve, and Buff all felt very smooth once on… and were so lightweight on the lips. I will say, it was a little difficult to apply. It took me about two, maybe three applications to make sure everything was even and not patchy in any areas.
The wear on these were pretty okay. They don’t transfer much, but I noticed a few areas, after I drank or ate something light, that needed to be touched up. Nothing major & nothing that I had a problem with.
Overall, I really like these! I’m happy with all the shades I chose. I think every single one is beautiful and I’m planning on grabbing a few more that I’ve been wanting.
What really surprised me was how comfortable these lipsticks felt. I really am enjoying them a lot! I would recommend trying them out if you’re a fan of mattes.
I apologize for the bad swatches. I thought I had swatched them before I made this post, realized I hadn’t and quickly did them… sorry! The Rum Punch and Dusty Mauve look patchy in the swatches, but don’t apply that way once on.
Have any of you tried these yet? What shades did you get? How did you like them? Let me know!
Thanks for reading! 🙂
