Hey, guys! Today’s my birthday! Can’t believe it’s another year passed, another year older. Makes me sad because I want it to slow down a little. What can you do? You can’t change it and you can’t make time slow down. Just gotta enjoy it while you can.
Anyway, if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ve been seeing all the new goodies I’ve (hubby has been been really good to me too) treating myself to during my birthday month. The Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks are among some of the goodies I’ve picked up in my many- shopping hauls recently. I’ve been using them for a little bit now and felt I could finally give my thoughts on them.
What they are? Intense saturated matte liquid lipsticks that last for 16 hours. They feature a unique arrow applicator that helps with achieving precise application. Available in 10 different shades. Retail for $9.49 each.
I’ll be honest, I first wanted to try these because I loved the packaging on the them. It’s simple, but I think pretty. Of course, I’m all for matte liquid lipsticks so that was the main factor in actually purchasing them. I started off with just three at first. *Ulta was having a sale- I think, buy 2 get 1 free.*
The first night I got these home I impatiently wanted to try the shades out. Just to see if I liked the shades on me or not. My lips were not primed at all. I put one on (not sure which one it was) My first thoughts were, I liked the applicator. I only had to use one swipe to apply on my lips. I liked that a lot.
Now, keep in mind, as I mentioned, my lips were not primed. They already were a little dry and after I put one of these shades on, it made them feel so incredibly dry. I was literally sitting there thinking… okay, I think I kinda hate these… they feel so drying and uncomfortable. I left it on for a little while longer and then tried to remove it.
Yes, tried to remove it.
Those lippies do not budge! I had to bust out the Coconut Oil to remove them. I personally love lipsticks that are difficult to remove. Ideally, I want lippies that won’t transfer or move and last me all day without having to re-apply… or have to touch up lightly.
The next day I decided I needed to try them again. This time I primed my lips and went in.
Totally different experience the next time around. They felt so comfortable! I wasn’t getting that super drying feeling. They actually felt pretty moisturizing.
The pigment is perfect with these lipsticks. As I mentioned, I only needed to go in once to apply fully to my lips. I love the fact that they’re so long lasting. I ate and was able to drink and they didn’t budge.
I’ve been reaching for these often. My favorites are Dreamer, Poet, Loyalist, and Philosopher. I’ve been recommending these to friends who are looking for new lippies to try. I am seriously loving them a lot! (I went back days after purchasing the first 3 and grabbed another 3 since Ulta was still having a sale) I may just end up with a couple more before alls said and done. 🙂
I can’t get over the quality too. They’re so affordable, but perform and feel like some of my high end liquid lipsticks.
I definitely think these are worth a try if you’re a matte lover like myself. They’re affordable, long wearing, pigmented, and stay all day! I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty perfect for me.
Have you given these a try? What are your thoughts? Let me know!
Thanks for reading! 🙂
