Winky Lux Flower Bomb Jelly Lip Stain Review

IMG_0520If any of you guys follow me over on my Instagram, you’ve already seen my mini review of this product. I received this product complimentary from Octoly and Winky Lux for my honest review.

I realized I never made a post for my blog, for those who may not follow me on Instagram to read and see what my thoughts are. Or just shed some light on this brand and their products, for those interested.

This was a product I saw all over Instagram and really wanted to try out. I think the packaging and overall look of these lip stains are really pretty. It’s what caught my attention at first. It’s very girly and packaged really well.  Continue reading

Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint Review- Salty & PillowTalk

img_9365I wanted to try Tarte’s Quick Dry Matte Lip paint since I heard these were possibly reformulated and true matte liquid lipsticks. Not too long ago I reviewed the Tarteist Creamy Matte lip paint. If you’re interested, you can read it here : Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint

I will tell you that not too many colors jumped out at me. I felt I didn’t need a lot of these shades. I was, however, most interested in Salty and Pillowtalk. Those are the two I picked up. I saw swatches online before I went in to buy them and they were colors that I needed. You all know how that goes. In store, they swatched nicely and I was pretty excited to get them home to test them out on my lips. Continue reading

700 Followers!! What?!

img_9087I think I hit 700 followers on Friday or Sat and I’m just now having the chance to recognize it. Guys!! 700! I feel like I just made my post for hitting 500 followers right before Christmas!

Many of you know I started my blog back in October and I had no idea what to expect. I certainly didn’t think I’d grow as fast as I have. It amazes me that 700 people have decided to follow me and read my blog, leave likes, comments, just interact with me. I am so thankful and grateful for each of you!

I wanted to start this blog because I wanted my own little space to talk about the things that interest me. Makeup being a huge part! Writing has always played a huge part in my life…so I just wanted someplace where I could speak my mind, share my thoughts, make some new friends & get to know others.

I get asked how my blog has grown so rapidly in such a short amount of time?

Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. I had no idea what I was doing when I started this blog… It took me hours just to figure out how to add links to my page, change the layout, insert pics. Literally had no idea what I was doing. Sometimes I still don’t know what I;m doing! 😉 However, I am a fast learner so it just took a little bit for me to get the hang of it. With that said, I’m still learning and just going with the flow.

The thought always crossed my mind, what if no one reads your blog? How do you get followers or people interested in reading what you’re writing? I had no idea! I still have no idea! Somehow 700 of you lovely, fantastic, followers made your way to my blog and chose to follow me and stick around.

All I can say if you’re looking to get your blog some more exposure, or make new connections try engaging with more blogs. I read a lot of different blogs, I leave comments sometimes, or simply just give a like. A lot of people will find your blog that way and maybe check you out.

Also, don’t be a ghost. Try and get to know some of the blogs you follow. It’s not about how many people follow you as it is finding people you might connect with, or share similar ideas or interest(s) with.

You also want to update and give your followers some quality content often.

Be consistent!

Don’t go weeks or months without posting and leave your followers hanging. They’re following you because they want to read about you or whatever content you post about. I understand life can get busy and sometimes things happen we have no control over. If you’re going to step away for a little bit, give your followers a heads up that you’ll be gone.

Other than that I don’t really have any ideas. I just know that has worked for me so far. Since I get asked often I figured I’d let you know. It’s nothing special or out of the ordinary. I’m just as amazed as some of you, that my blog keeps growing as rapidly as it does.

So in closing, I just want to thank each of you so much! Thank you for finding my blog and deciding you want to follow, thanks for the shares some of my posts get, thanks for all the likes, thanks for the comments, thanks for following me on my other social media pages and connecting with me. THANK YOU!!! You guys are amazing and this little blogging community has been so kind, helpful, and such a pleasant experience so far. I’m so glad I decided to start this blog! I love connecting with so many of you and I’m so grateful

Again, thank you all so much!!!

Feel free to add me on my other social media pages: (Let me know you followed me so I can follow you back)

New Year… Same Me

15825954_10158030144400173_6346444737883648717_nIt’s that time of year again when I’ll continue to write (or type) in last years year. No joke I googled 2016 image pics instead of 2017. I sat looking at them for a couple of minutes until it finally clicked… and I’m like, “Oh yeah, we’re in a new year now. It’s 2017… not 16.”

Six days in so far and it feels no different. (I mean, does it really ever?) I’m still a little bummed that Christmas is over. No more excitement.

Some people are so quick to remove all traces of the holidays, literally, the moment Christmas ends. I have friends who take down and toss out their trees before the end of the night is over on Christmas Day! On Christmas Day!

I like to enjoy it a little longer. When I was a kid we’d always take our decorations and stuff down after January 1st. I still do that to this day. My husband and I will… sadly, take everything down probably this weekend.  Continue reading

Bath & Body Works Lotion & Fragrance Haul Part 1

imageRecently I picked up some lotion and a fragrance mist at Bath & Body Works. I used to be really big into Bath & Body Works lotions a couple of years ago. I kinda strayed from them because I noticed most of the lotions I was getting didn’t last long, as far as being able to smell them during the day.

I’d put some on and literally half an hour in, I’d smell nothing! It was odd. I decided to give them a try once again and just picked up these new scents. I’m really excited to try them out because they smell really yummy when I dab a little on my hand. I’m hoping the scent lasts longer than my previous experience with their lotions did. I picked these lotions up, I believe a few days ago when B&BW was having a sale for $3.50 per lotion! Pretty good deal considering these retail between $13-$14! Why not? I needed some lotion and these scents smelled too good to pass up. Continue reading

Happy Thanksgiving!

happy-thanksgiving-672x372Happy Thanksgiving! I hope each of you are celebrating this day with family, friends, and other loved ones. I wanted to wish you all a safe and joyous holiday making new memories and sharing lots of laughs. Today is a day to spend with family and be thankful for all that we have. I remember being a kid and always dreading this holiday. It was a day of just food and eating and I found that so boring. There were no presents or glittery, shiny, decorations. I hated having to get dressed up to see relatives I hardly saw otherwise throughout the year. Being a kid at that time, I didn’t understand what Thanksgiving was all about. Of course now that I’m older, I can appreciate what this day means. I’m thankful I get to spend it with not only my family, but spend the rest of the day with my husband’s family as well.

I hope whomever you’re spending this holiday with, you enjoy your day. Today will be a busy day for us, as I’m sure it will be for lots of others. We have both sides of our families houses we have to go to for dinner, we’ll come home at around ten or so and be able to relax for a bit before midnight. My husband likes to hit Best Buy for their Black Friday deals. (I’ll be waiting in the car) I’m undecided if I’m going to hit any stores this year. I usually like to go to Victoria’s Secret because they always have a beautiful tote bag for Black Friday, but I’m soo disappointed in this years bag. It’s just too plain. Last year was the silver glittery bag (I use it as my gym bag & get so many compliments on it. It sparkles so much… especially in the sunlight) The bag this year is just a basic black one. Just not feeling it. I guess that’s good for me- saving money and all. 🙂

So, guys, once again, Happy Thanksgiving!! Be safe and have a wonderful day.

Current High End & Drugstore Brand Mascara

imageI’m kind of picky, or maybe snobby when it comes to mascara. It’s not necessarily the mascara itself, as it is the brush/ mascara wand.  I have a certain kind of wand I like using. I need it to be sturdy and not flimsy/ I’m going to flop around, break in your hand kind of wand. Plus I really focus on the size of the wand and how big the bristles are. I like a lot of volume and big, long, dramatic lashes. I like any kind of mascara that is going to give you both. My lashes naturally, unfortunately, are neither. Continue reading

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Collection

charlotte-tilbury-hot-lips-collection-open

I got an email from Beautylish earlier saying the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips ‘Kim K.W.’ shade was back in stock. It’s their most popular shade (of course seeing as it’s inspired by Kim Kardashian and it’s the perfect nude shade she’s known for wearing.) I heard about this collection back when it first launched…but for whatever reason didn’t really pay that much attention to it. There are literally so many collections that have this and that coming out. Sometimes it gets hard to keep track of everything. For whatever reason, this one kinda slipped on past me. Since getting that email, though, I’ve been reading some reviews and watching some Youtube videos on this collection. I’ve got to be honest… I’m kind of interested in buying a couple of shades. I really have my eye on the nude/ neutral colors rather than the bright shades. I think the bright shades are just as pretty and I’m a big fan of bright lippies, but if I’m planning on trying one or two shades, I’m most likely going for the neutral colors. They’re speaking to me more than the brights.

While I think the colors look spectacular, I’m also drawn to the packaging. (of course) I think the rose gold tube the lipstick comes in, is very elegant and classy looking. It’s definitely eye catching and chic. I just imagine reaching into my handbag to touch up my lipstick and pulling this out, it would just look so fancy. I also really love the lipstick holder the above picture is showing with all the lippies lined up. I’m pretty sure the holder came if you bought all twelve shades on the Charlotte Tilbury site. Personally I think that would look gorgeous added to my makeup collection. 🙂 I’m not interested in buying all twelve shades so I’ll just have to admire it from afar. I think it would be nice if it could be bought separately, but I get the whole marketing aspect of it. ‘Hot Lips’ collection, the holder goes with the collection… still, would be nice.

The packaging is one thing- beautiful! Look at the lipsticks themselves! I love the shape of these lipsticks, apparently they’re shaped this way for the perfect precision when applying. How ideal! As you can imagine, I love the embossed lip print on the bullet. The lipstick definitely looks high end. I think it’s super gorgeous! I feel just carrying one of these around in your purse for an evening would make any girl feel classy and sexy.

The colors I’m most interested in trying would be:

  • Kim K.W. – Pale nude beige pink
  • Penelope – Nude pink
  • Liv It Up – Rosebud pink
  • Kidmans Kiss– Rose petal pink

All of the lipstick shades are named after celebrities that Charlotte Tilbury has worked with. They retail at $32.00 and can be purchased from Beautylish & CharlotteTilbury.com

I know this collection came out a while ago. Sometime over the summer, maybe July? I think I’m going to check out a few more reviews and see what others have to say before I decide… but I think this collection really looks pretty amazing. If nothing else, I’d like to add one or two of them to my collection for the elegance alone. I want them to be just as amazing in real life as they look in the pictures.

What do you guys think? Since this collection has been out for a while, have you tried it yet? What do you think of these lipsticks? How do they perform? Let me know!

Thanks for reading! 🙂

My LEAST Favorite Kylie Cosmetics Lipsticks

imageBy now you’re all aware that I rate Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipsticks as some of my favs. Going as far to say, I think they maybe even my TOP favorite when it comes to liquid lipsticks. I base this on the fact that I love her formula, the longevity of the product, the feeling on my lips, and of course- the final result, the color payout.

As with every company you’re going to have your pros and cons. You can still love a company and their products, but not love every product they come out with. Sometimes formulas are different in each product, or the product itself just doesn’t work well with us, whatever the case, you’re not going to love every single thing a company puts out. While I love Kylie’s lippies, I’m not totally in love with every single one of them. I have my favorites and my not so favorites. I have that with every brand I love. Some colors I adore and can’t get enough of, some colors I shudder at the thought I purchased them in the first place and regret wasting money. That’s life. It’s a chance you take, especially when ordering online and not being able to swatch and see a product in person. I do think that makes it tough and that is one big downside to ordering from Kylie Cosmetics, or other online based beauty companies. You can’t run to Sephora and swatch a color. You have to go by pictures posted by said company or big beauty influencers who in all likelihood are getting paid (or at least some kind of “perk” to promote them) It can really make it difficult.

I’ve had plenty of times where I saw a color that looked amazing on whoever, but when I purchased it, the color looked nothing like it did on me as it did on others I saw. That’s not anyone’s fault, of course, we’re all different so nothing is going to look exactly the same on me as it does someone else. Results vary and that’s normal. So many factors come into play with situations like that. Also, the opposite can be said as well. I’ve had colors I didn’t know if I’d like the color/ look good on me, (I saw other examples of people wearing them and hated it on them) ended up getting that color and it was amazing. You just never know. Basically, I’m just saying it’s a chance you take. Just something to keep in mind.

A little bit of this and that

image

Kylie is set to release her collab with Khloe Kardashian on November, 9th. She’s launching these three new liquid lipsticks and one lipgloss sold together for $40, which includes free shipping on purchases of $40 or more for the holidays. I mean how can I pass that up??  Immediately I’m sold on the packaging. I love the gold! It looks elegant and classy.  Continue reading
