Sometimes I Wish I Could Go Back

photo-dec-15-3-59-46-pmWhen I think of my childhood I have such fond memories. Good memories. Great memories. I had great friends and lots of great times. It’s funny, when I ask my husband about his childhood he remembers very little. He doesn’t describe his memories as vivid and detailed as I do mine. He, like myself, had a great childhood as well. He just doesn’t remember his, I guess, as much as I do mine.

He’s not the only one who’s memories of their earlier years are kinda hazy. I still talk to old childhood friends and when I bring up a certain time, or memory, not all of them recall it. I’ve often been told my memory is freakishly good. I have memories (not a ton of them, but a couple) of being two years old and younger. I’ve described memories or a certain time to my Mom and she was amazed I remembered something from a time when I was so young.  Continue reading

November Favorites

imageHow is it now December?! The last month of the year. I feel like last month flew by! Actually, it feels like the whole fall season went by so quickly. It’s now almost winter!

For my favorites this month I wanted to keep it fairly short. I included four makeup products (a returning favorite from last months favorites) I had a couple more makeup items I could have included in this post, but I forgot to include them in the main pic and once realized I just said screw it. If I’m still enjoying them next month, they’ll make it into that months favs.  Continue reading

My Top 10 MAC Lipsticks

imageI’ve been a fan of MAC Cosmetics for such a long time. They were probably one of, (if not THE one) higher end brands I started buying from when I transitioned away from drugstore makeup. I fell in love with their products immediately. For a period of time, MAC was the only makeup brand I was buying from. I loved the quality of the products, the way they performed, the packaging, everything! MAC was an addiction and shopping at the MAC store and counters was something I did pretty often.  Continue reading

Current High End & Drugstore Brand Mascara

imageI’m kind of picky, or maybe snobby when it comes to mascara. It’s not necessarily the mascara itself, as it is the brush/ mascara wand.  I have a certain kind of wand I like using. I need it to be sturdy and not flimsy/ I’m going to flop around, break in your hand kind of wand. Plus I really focus on the size of the wand and how big the bristles are. I like a lot of volume and big, long, dramatic lashes. I like any kind of mascara that is going to give you both. My lashes naturally, unfortunately, are neither. Continue reading

A little bit of this and that

Kylie is set to release her collab with Khloe Kardashian on November, 9th. She’s launching these three new liquid lipsticks and one lipgloss sold together for $40, which includes free shipping on purchases of $40 or more for the holidays. I mean how can I pass that up??  Immediately I’m sold on the packaging. I love the gold! It looks elegant and classy.  Continue reading

Small Ulta haul

image

I went to Ulta yesterday and picked up a few things. I probably stayed in the store for a good hour swatching this and that, covering myself in many different glitters, colors, blushes, eyeshadows, foundations, lip products, you name it. I went in there just to look but you know how that goes, (if you’re anything like me and love to shop) you always find something that will jump out at you to purchase. As always, the associates were friendly, asking if I needed help. (I like to shop on my own and pretty much be left alone since I’m in my own little world when I’m shopping) I was grateful none of them stuck around or tried interjecting about products I was looking at. Nothing makes me want to leave a product right where it is and leave a store…. than having pushy sales people bother me and try to “sell” me things. It just ruins my shopping experience. Bath & Body Works and Sephora I’m looking at you.  Continue reading

Chrome nails

image

Lately I’ve been loving chrome nails. I’m probably a little late on this trend, but you must understand how hard it is for me to give up my glitter designs. I am so obsessed with glitter and sparkling. (Just ask anyone that knows me)

I. need. my. glitter. I’ve been toying with the idea of chrome nails for a little while now. They’re literally all over the place if you take a look on Instagram. You’ve probably even seen some of your favorite Youtubers rocking them.

The processs of applying chrome was super easy! I don’t know what I expected… maybe something very difficult and time consuming? It was neither. Simply a polish and the chrome powder on top that was brushed on. One. Two. Three. That easy!

I have to admit, I’m pretty obsessed with these nails right now. They pick up different colors in certain light or with different movement. I always get a lot of compliments on my nails, I can just imagine how many I’ll get with these.

I don’t know why I waited so long to try chrome nails- (because glitter owns my soul) but I feel like I’ve been missing out… love love love!

If you’re in the RI or MA area and looking for high quality nails check out Harmony Nail Studio at 2914 Post Rd, Warwick, RI.  You can also check out @Amygelz on Instagram or @Harmonynailsri always the best service and quality.

I tried including a video to show the color change but it failed to upload. I might have it up on my Instagram- @ThattgirlJenn if you’re interested in seeing.

Have you tried chrome nails before? Did you like them? What types of nail designs do you like?  Let me know.

Expectation vs reality

When you want to try Starbucks new Frappula frapp, expecting it to look like the picture on the left, but getting the pic on the right instead. I placed a mobile order and when I went in to get it, it wasn’t even ready. The girl making it had no clue what this drink even was and ended up making me something with a coffee base and drizzling in caramel sauce for the first try… this was the second try…. and it tasted horrible! I ended up throwing it away because honestly it just seemed like she tossed in a little bit of this and that. Whatever combo she came up with was not good!

This clearly isn’t a huge deal at all. A little annoying, yes. A waste of money, definitely. I only wanted to try the drink because I liked the way it looked in the picture. I would have even overlooked the fact that the drink looked nothing like the pic Starbucks posted, if the drink actually was good. I’ve had plenty of things (food, drinks, etc) that looked completely different (some looking completely like shit) than the promo pic, but the taste was perfect. In the end, that’s what matters. Sure I want it to look pretty like the picture since that’s what is persuading me to buy it in the first place… but whatever.

I didn’t want Starbucks anyway today lol. I’d consider it a win for me if I wasn’t out $5.30. Note to self- next time just pass on any Starbucks 4 day limited edition drinks.

Target addiction & online shopping.

img_6210-1Who doesn’t love Target, right? I can’t be the only one who needs to buy one or two items going in… and somehow finds themselves wandering the aisles, picking up a million and one other things. Things I don’t really need, but it’s cute, or I’ll find some use for it. (I mean, that’s the talk I have with myself in my head)  This isn’t just a once and a while kinda thing either. No, this happens every time I step into that evil, wonderful store. I walk through that store in some kind of trance and come out with a cart full of stuff thinking, “Wtf did you just buy?” Lol anyone else? Or am I alone in my shopping addiction?  Continue reading

Candles… my other love.

image

If you’ve been reading my blog, you know I love makeup. Love! I’ve loved makeup since I was a little girl. It’s what I love to spend my money on, look at, play with, you name it. It makes me happy. Life can be hard and I’m all for finding what makes you happy and doing it… but I also have a love for candles. I love scents and I love good smells. As with makeup, I love good quality candles that perform well and have lots of scent. Also, as with makeup, I tend to be a sucker for good packaging. I will say I don’t usually buy candles solely just on looks or packaging alone. I mean, that’s definitely a plus in my book if the candle is adorable and cute as well as smells fantastic. Of course nowadays you will find all kinds of candles, brands, and a bunch of different scents. Sometimes that can be a little overwhelming and make it hard to choose. I tend to have a certain type of scent I like. I’m more into bakery and gourmand foodie scents as opposed to floral and perfume. A lot of times, I find those type of candles just don’t work well with me and my nose. They can be too overpowering and heavy on the perfume/ cologne and cause me to have a headache. It has to be toned down some with a vanilla note or some other note I enjoy for me to even consider buying it.   Continue reading
